Shirley Heinze Land Trust (SHLT) protects and manages 4,000 acres in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Marshall, and Starke Counties in northwestern Indiana and engages communities in conservation and nature. The Major Gifts Coordinator (MGC) provides support for SHLT’s Major Gifts Program ensuring deeper, more meaningful relationships are created with constituents supporting the mission of SHLT. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director, and collaborates with staff, volunteers, and community partners to achieve fundraising and development goals. This is a part-time hourly position with a range of $18-$20/hr based in accordance with candidate experience and expertise.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assist with the administrative tasks related to the major gift fundraising program of SHLT.
• Oversee the administration, maintenance, and optimization of SHLT’s contact management system (database).
• Develop reporting to support the advancement of the Major Gifts Program and other fundraising initiatives.
• Process and ship merchandise purchases. • Support the identification and research of major gifts prospects.
• Track major donor engagement for SHLT Directors, Board, and Committee members.
• Work with Fundraising Committee chair to support committee needs including drafting the agenda, taking minutes, and reporting on development.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of the annual major fundraising event.
• Support donor cultivation and stewardship activities.
• Assist with other projects, as needed.

Qualifications:
• Degree or specialized training in nonprofit development work.
• Experience with customer relationship management databases.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
• A flexible and adaptable style that can positively impact both strategic and tactical organizational growth.
• Team player; ability to work independently without close oversight.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, remote meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom), and CRMs.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with customer relationship management databases.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
• A flexible and adaptable style that can positively impact both strategic and tactical organizational growth.
• Team player; ability to work independently without close oversight.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Work Location and Environment:
SHLT offices are located at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve (109 W 700 North, Valparaiso, IN 46385). This position is in-person with the option for a flexible schedule.
