NORTHWEST INDIANA | Powers Health will host Stop the Stumble, a screening program in which physical and occupational therapists will assess balance, gait and strength to determine if someone is at a high risk for falls.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 out of 4 older adults in the United States will fall each year. Many falls are preventable and should not be considered a normal part of aging.
The screenings will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at locations across Northwest Indiana. These 15-minute fall risk screenings are free, but an appointment is required.
Stop the Stumble screenings are available at the following locations:
- Community Hospital Fitness Pointe, Physical Therapy, 9550 Calumet Ave., Munster
- Community Hospital Outpatient Center, Conference Room, 9660 Wicker Ave., St. John
- St. Catherine Hospital, Professional Office Building, 4320 Fir St., East Chicago
