PORTAGE, IN – Mark your calendars for a magical evening of family fun as the Portage Township YMCA hosts its annual Family Formal, formerly known as the Pee-Wee Prom, on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Portage Township YMCA. This cherished event is a celebration for families of all shapes and sizes in Portage and the surrounding communities.
This year’s theme, Candyland, promises a whimsical experience that will ignite imaginations and create lasting memories. Staying true to the Portage Y’s mission of “For All,” the Family Formal is an inclusive event designed for families of diverse backgrounds and structures. “We wanted to ensure this event is welcoming for everyone,” said Amber Jones, Youth Development Coordinator at the Portage Township YMCA. “While traditional events like daddy-daughter or mother-son dances are wonderful, the Family Formal is intentionally inclusive. Whether it’s moms and daughters, fathers and sons, or caregivers and children, this is a night for everyone to enjoy.”
The event is primarily geared toward children 10 years old and younger, but attendees of all ages are welcome. Guests are encouraged to dress in themed or semi-formal attire for a festive evening that includes:
- A catered dinner by local favorite Cappo’s,
- Live entertainment,
- Professional prom photos by Classic Photo, and
- The Y’s signature balloon drop to cap off the night.
Tickets are $40 per couple and $20 per additional person, ages 2 and older. Individual tickets are available only with the purchase of a couples ticket. Take advantage of early bird pricing now through February 14, 2025, and save $5 to $10. Tickets can be purchased in person at the YMCA or online at ymcaofportage.org/familyformal
