Celebrating 40 years as a premier guitar soloist, John Behling’s career highlights include performing for two US Presidents, appearances at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as performing at top venues throughout the US, including many in Chicago. Behling’s solo work draws on a wide array of influences, including jazz and pop standards, Brazilian guitar music, and music from the classical guitar canon. In addition to his work as a soloist, Behling performs with many groups including The Guitar Arts Duo, which specializes in swing era music, and the Brazilian jazz quartet, Rio Bamba. He has also worked with celebrities including Patti Page, Jay McShann, and Claude "Fiddler" Williams, and he has toured and recorded with award winning fiddler, Jeremy Kittel, and legendary banjo player, Clarke Buehling. Based in Chicago, Behling is also an accomplished scholar and teacher, having written extensively about jazz in Chicago and he has presented talks on topics including Chicago jazz, Sammy Davis, Jr., Broadway musicals, and other topics related to music and American culture. Behling holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Music in Jazz and Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Arkansas. He has taught at the University of Michigan, DePaul University, the University of North Dakota, University of Illinois and Columbia College.

Girls Like Us combines sparkling harmonies, dynamic storytelling, and humor, featuring Marianne Murphy Orland’s rich vocals and music direction by Beckie Menzie.
