VALPARAISO, IN. – The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County will host its 18th annual Earth Day Celebration from 9AM to 1PM on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at the Porter County Expo Center located at 215 E Division Road in Valparaiso, IN 46383. The event is FREE to the public and will feature 60 sustainably minded vendors, local wildlife, magic shows, interactive children's games, birdhouse building, a fix-it fair, a reuse fair, food, giveaways and an estimated 2,000 attendees.
This is a FREE event and is our 18th year annual Earth Day celebration here in NWI. We are excited to announce that this year's nationwide theme is "Our Power, Our Planet"! Exploring the ways in which we as humans have the power to enact positive change for the planet's sustainability.
Things to look forward to at this FREE Celebration of the Earth:
  • Complete a scavenger hunt to enter a drawing to win a new bike (or small prize)
  • Check out 60 sustainably minded vendors who are supporting our local ecosystems
  • Come grab a free local tree sapling to plant in your yard
  • Bring your old bike to donate to the Oddfellows who will upcycle it for those in need
  • Check out the Reuse Fair Wishlist’s on our website to donate to organizations in need and help keep things out of the landfill
  • Build a birdhouse to put in your yard for local wildlife (recommended for ages 7-12)
  • Meet local wildlife from Humane Indiana
  • Watch a Magic Show
  • Get your face painted by Valpo High Schools Earth Awareness Club
  • And so much more!
