“It has been my pleasure to have been in the position of Executive Director of the Hobart Chamber of Commerce. I have tried to serve the City of Hobart in various ways over the years and this was a great final opportunity before moving on to the next chapter of my life. I have been truly blessed and thank everyone that I have met and worked with in and around Hobart. I encourage everyone to step up and help to make your community stronger. We are all in this together," stated Jay Harrigan.
Jay Harrigan was born and raised in Hobart, Indiana, where his family has been in the real estate business for over 75 years. Jay has a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Indiana University Northwest. Harrigan has served many community service positions including past Hobart Chamber of Commerce Board Member; past Hobart Kiwanis President; Maria Reiner Center Board Member; former Hobart Jaycee President and JCI Senator; former YMCA Board Member; and former Board of Zoning Appeals Member. He will be missed.
"I want to thank everyone that has been part of my life in Hobart, I have been truly blessed, but it’s time to move on to my next chapter. Born and raised here, I have spent 59 of my 63 years living in Hobart. Even while living elsewhere, my heart was still here, as it will continue to remain. 40 plus years in the real estate business has enabled me to see and be familiar with every part of the city and surrounding communities. My family has had great ties to the city with Harrigan Real Estate, political associations and my uncle surviving as Fire Chief for 38 years. I have tried to give back as much as possible through the various community service organizations as president and/or as a board member. I have great memories with the Hobart Jaycees, Kiwanis, Maria Reiner Center, Hobart First United Methodist Church and various Realtor committees,” stated Jay.
“A couple years ago, I took on the position of Hobart Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and I believe we have made great strides to build the Chamber back up to pre-covid days. As of the writing of this, we are interviewing a great group of candidates for the position of Executive Director. We have a strong President, Vice-President, and Board of Directors that I know will continue in the direction that we are heading, and I will be monitoring to make sure they do. Michelle and I will be packing up and moving to a warmer climate. I’ll be making visits back here from time to time and anyone coming down to Florida, let me know and I’ll be sure to forward my address,” Jay continued.
