Chesterton Art Center (CAC) will be hosting two separate exhibitions in their galleries during April. The Duneland Weaver’s Guild will be showcasing their work April 3-28 in the upper gallery. An opening reception featuring items for sale and prize drawings will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 1-3 PM, with a style show at 1 PM. The Duneland Weavers Guild welcomes artists of all skill levels—from talented professionals to curious novices to learn about and expand expertise in handweaving, spinning, and other fiber arts.

“Spark: CAC Youth Art Exhibition” highlights artwork created by students (ages 5-18) in CAC’s studio and Youth Arts Outreach programs. The students featured in this exhibition participated in CAC programming between September 2025 and March 2026. This show is a celebration of the young artists who imagine, make, construct, and create with CAC! “Spark” will be on display April 3-28 in the lower gallery. A reception will be held on Friday, April 10, 5-8 PM.

CAC will also be hosting a FREE Family Art Day on Saturday, April 11, from 10AM–2PM. Join CAC, in partnership with Three Moons Fiberworks, for a special Family Art Day focused on fiber arts! Visitors to the Family Art Day event will have the chance to watch live spinning demonstrations, talk with fiber artists, and learn how raw materials are transformed into woven and stitched works. Visitors will also have the opportunity create fiber works in our classrooms, exploring techniques such as weaving, embroidery, felting and more. CAC Family Art Days are free, drop-in events, but CAC requests that participants register prior to attending by visiting www.chestertonart.org/youth-and-teen-classes or by calling (219) 926-4711.

“Family Art Days build on CAC’s mission to create more accessible arts programming for the Duneland community and beyond. We invite you and your family to spend some time with us in our classrooms and gallery, creating and learning about art,” said Cara Schmitt, CAC Education Director. “It’s really exciting to design projects that allow visitors to try out some of the methods used by the artists on display in our gallery!”
