Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping all the Clubs in good repair and safe for members and staff. Incumbent performs minor repair projects as needed while also communicating on condition of buildings, grounds and equipment. Also assists with regular and preventive maintenance schedule. This is a 40 hour a week full-time position. Candidate must have reliable transportation to travel between multiple Clubs. Some mileage reimbursement is available per organizational policy.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect facilities and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations.
  •  Perform preventive maintenance within Club facilities as well as on Club vehicles.
  • Assist with delivery of supplies and equipment to Club locations as well as special events.
  •  Perform minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  •  Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  •  Prepare the surfaces and paint various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
  • Attendance of all staff/agency meetings, as required.
  •  Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic knowledge of general facility maintenance to include electrical, plumbing and carpentry, grounds keeping, mechanical and automotive.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • CDL preferred, valid license required. HVAC experience plus. 
  • Able to comprehend, retain and follow oral and written instructions, exercise good judgment, set priorities, listen, problem solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to provide and use common hand, power and specialty tools necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively interact with staff, members, parents, visitors, vendors, etc.
  • Must be able to work limited to no supervision.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee is exposed to all types of weather and temperature conditions, dust, dirt, and moving machinery. Occasionally the employee is exposed to high stress situations and hazardous chemicals. The noise level is moderate to high. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision.
