Buddy Bag Delivery Driver
سلام
Description:
The Salvation Army Porter County works with No Child Hungry Northwest Indiana to provide food for low-income students K-8 on the weekends. Families who struggle financially often rely on their children being able to eat at least two meals a day at school. The weekends and school breaks can be stressful for families who are struggling to provide food for their families as it is. No Child Hungry packs weekend food bags ("buddy bags") for over 100 kids in Porter County school systems so that families do not have to worry about what they're children are going to eat on the weekends. The Salvation Army delivers these bags to elementary/intermediate schools in Chesterton. We are looking for a volunteer driver to help deliver these bags.
When?
Every Thursday between 9:30am and 12:30pm throughout the 2026-2026 school year (September - May)
The first delivery day is September 11th
The last delivery day will be TBA in the end of May
Where?
Our volunteers pick up the "buddy bags” at a church in Winfield where No Child Hungry NWI is stationed. They visit every elementary school in Chesterton, as well as Liberty intermediate school in Chesterton. We are soon adding another elementary school in Lake Station, that is very much in need of a weekend food program for students.
