Position Summary:
The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the management of conservation programs including land acquisition and conservation planning, agricultural land, water quality, capital/community impact projects, and student experiences in conservation. This position reports directly to the Conservation Director and collaborates with Stewardship and Engagement programs staff, volunteers, landowners, and community partners to achieve organizational goals. This is a full-time salaried position and is eligible for benefits. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000 and will be based in accordance with candidate experience and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-  Manage the planning, design, implementation, tracking, and reporting of grants and capital/community impact projects, including procurement and management of contracts.
-  Assist with land acquisition opportunities including donor and landowner communications, site visits, attending Land Strategy Committee meetings, and managing land acquisition tools and tracking.
-  Advance implementation of conservation and master planning priorities and initiatives for natural and farmlands, as well as local, regional, and state land use and conservation planning efforts and projects.
-  Manage the planning, implementation, and tracking of in-house and volunteer water quality monitoring, and participate with watershed planning efforts across organization geography.
-  Support the development and implementation of student projects for the student experiences in conservation program.
-  Keep organized records to track funds, expenses, staff hours, volunteer hours, and other metrics associated with reporting on active and completed projects and grants.
-  Pursue funding opportunities and partnerships to advance conservation programs.
-  Oversee GIS mapping and analysis for conservation programs including contract services and assist with organization capacity building with GIS tools and training.
-  Coordinate and communicate with staff, board members, partners, landowners, and others associated with projects and programs.
-  Support the documentation of projects through photographs, videos, presentations, virtual programming, and special events to promote the work of SHLT.
-  Other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:
-  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specialized training in environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, or a related field
-  Valid driver’s license
-  Prior project management experience in work or volunteer setting
-  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing tasks
-  Ability to work independently and within a team environment
-  Organizational skills and attention to detail
-  Experience with Microsoft Office programs
-  Effective verbal and written communication skills, especially for a public audience
-  Experience with ArcGIS desktop and field applications preferred


Work Location and Environment:
SHLT offices are located at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve (109 W 700 North, Valparaiso, IN 46385). This position is in-person and will require both office and field work, with occasional travel. Occasional evening and weekend availability will be required.
