Brendan Clancy, Portage Township Trustee, is inviting the public to attend a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Portage Township Department of Parks and Recreation office/maintenance building.
The new 6000 sq. ft. building will be constructed on the site of the old park maintenance facility which was demolished last week. The new building will serve as the Township Park Department’s office as well as the Township’s maintenance facility. The park department office will be located at the front of the building which will include one private office, large reception area with two workstations, waiting area, kitchenette and conference room. The remainder of the building will be dedicated to maintenance operations including three vehicle bays, plenty of work area, mezzanine storage, and equipment storage.
“My leadership team and I are extremely excited to see many years of work coming to fruition.” states Clancy. “This new facility will not only improve our ability to work on the maintenance of the Township vehicles including the Bonner Senior Center buses and all of the park and cemetery maintenance vehicles, but also provides us with the opportunity to bring more park programming and on-site services to the community like a conference room available for residents and local civic organizations. As Portage Township grows we are proud to be growing to meet the community’s needs.”
