Join Shirley Heinze Land Trust on February 14th for this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count! This is a global event that will span from February 13th to 16th. We will identify, count, and log our data to help scientists better understand and protect birds worldwide. Lydick Bog Nature Preserve offers fantastic birding due to its diverse and unique habitats. Whether you’re new to birding or an avid avian fan, this is a great way to get outside while contributing to valuable data for bird sightings. This event will be led by Volunteer Naturalist Jim Spier, who will share his background in birding as well as provide insights into the history and habitats of the bog. Difficulty: Easy to moderate; suitable for most ages. The trail at Lydick Bog varies from gravel paths to moderate trails with stairs and bare roots. We will meet at the Lydick Bog Pavilion. What to Bring: Weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear, water, and curiosity. Please note that our restrooms are closed for the season. This event will take place at 10 am Eastern Time.
