Our fundraiser is raising funds for our Emergency Assistance Program. We are seeking to provide community resilience and support to our community members. For the past 17 Years we have received emergency funds from United Way in the amount of $30,000 due to their merger, we currently have no funding in our emergency assistance fund. This fund helps clients with such emergencies as medical, housing repair expenses, mortgage payments and car repairs. All the funds in the emergency fund go directly to clients to help with these difficult situations. One such example is a family that recently had a cancer diagnosis by its primary wage earner, and we were able to help them pay for rent before an eviction occurred. Our agency was grateful to be able to alleviate some of the stress of this heartbreaking circumstance to this beautiful family of four. Without these funds we are not able to help our neighbors in dire need of our assistance. This fund is for community members who come across a challenge where they need assistance for a one-time event. We find that our seniors in particular struggle with challenges because they are on a fixed income. At times they are not able to repair their vehicles. These vehicles are needed for life sustaining actions such as doctors appointments and grocery shopping.
