DESCRIPTION:Please join us for Rise\, Shine and Share Portage. This event offers Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce members the opportunity to share their ideas\, business strategies and successes\, and to exchange business referrals. The goal of the program is to increase business for our members.  \n\n \n\nThe Portage Police Department will share information on Workplace Violence Safety\, Active Shooter Training from 7:30 - 8:30 am on Thursday\, July 13 from 7:30-8:30 am at the Best Western\, in Portage\, IN. Workplace violence accounted for 16 percent of all work-related fatal occupational injuries in 2014 and according to FBI estimates 40 percent of all active shooter events took place in business settings: commercial office buildings\, stores\, factories and warehouses.\n\n\n\nStill\, many businesses have outdated response plans\, or no plan at all. It is a risk every business faces\, and an exposure for which many are unprepared. It has become necessary to do more than implement safety protocols\; employees need to learn how to react safely when faced with a violent situation
