DESCRIPTION:Household Hazardous Waste or "HHW" are unwanted products that contain corrosive\, toxic\, ignitable or reactive ingredients that require special care upon disposal. The Porter County Recycling and Waste Reduction District hosts events throughout the county in which residents can safely dispose of these materials.\n\nAccepted materials include household cleaners\, pesticides\, kerosene\, gasoline\, oil-based paints\, antifreeze\, solvents and much more. A longer list of accepted items can be found at www.portercountyrecycling.org.\n\nIn honor of Earth Day\, residents can pick up a free sapling tree during the May 1st Household Hazardous Waste Collection (Trees are distributed on a first come\, first served basis -- one per household).\n\n\n\nPlease Note: Electronics or latex paints will NOT be accepted at any Household Hazardous Waste Collection events. Tires will only be accepted at the October 9th Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.\n\n\n\nResidents are advised to use caution and continue to observe all social distancing guidelines
